Mark Your Calendar: Vision Weekend is Coming!

There are certain dates on the calendar that captivate, inspire, and fill us with anticipation: favorite holidays, paydays (can I get an amen?), memorable moments like first dates...and Vision Weekend.

Wait, did I lose you there? Let me guess: I had you right up until Vision Weekend. But hear me out–this is one date I hope you’ll eventually add to your calendar of “woo-hoo” moments because it’s a day worthy of celebration and expectation.

God has been doing amazing things in and through CrossPoint for years, but it’s only been recently that we’ve paused to celebrate the past and focus on the future in such an intentional way. That’s what Vision Weekend is all about.

This year, Vision Weekend is happening the first weekend in March, and we cannot wait to share with you all that God has done and what He is preparing to do!

Looking Back

We’ll celebrate incredible milestones like our baptism numbers. Each baptism represents a life radically transformed by Christ’s amazing grace. Seeing lives changed over and over again? It doesn’t get better than that!

Looking Ahead

We’ll share stories of growth and the exponential potential we’re seeing as God moves through our Multiplier Groups. Our Location Pastors will also break down CrossPoint’s network-wide goals, focusing on what they mean for your community and how you can play a part in them.

We’ll revisit CrossPoint’s biggest goals on our Vision Frame and celebrate how far God has already brought us.

Invest and Invite

But what I’m most excited about is the renewal of a phrase deeply rooted in CrossPoint’s history: Invest and Invite.

We are praying that 2025 will mark a revival of an Invest and Invite culture. Yes, we want to see people come to church, but let’s remember that’s the end of the process–not the beginning. Before we invite loved ones, friends, and family to church, we must first love them enough to invest in their lives.

People aren’t projects or numbers to be counted on a weekend. God has placed you in a sphere of influence–at home, work, school, or neighborhood–to make a difference. Before we can invite someone to church, prayer, or a relationship with Christ, we must first earn their trust by investing in their lives.

When you pass the test to invest you earn the right to invite. Jesus didn’t call us to be keepers of the aquarium; He called us to be fishers of men. Let’s be a church that’s “go and tell,” not just “come and see.”

Join Us for Vision Weekend

This Vision Weekend, we’ll explore how to live out this Invest and Invite culture. So go ahead–mark your calendar, put up your “vision tree,” and throw on your ugly CrossPoint sweater. It’s beginning to look a lot like Vision Weekend, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

CrossPoint Sterling

One thing that has been really exciting in Sterling is our Student Ministry. Every Wednesday night we have students from 5th through 12th grade, and over the last few weeks, we have averaged 50 to 60 students in attendance. For some locations, this may seem like a normal or average size for a student ministry, but for a community the size of Sterling, that is a high number. So you can get a better idea of those numbers for Sterling, that means almost 20% of the students in those grades are coming to CrossPoint on Wednesday nights. The other part of this that is worth celebrating is most of those students/families do not attend CrossPoint, and there are several that would say, “my family doesn’t go to church.” Sterling Student Ministry is not just a church ministry, it is a community outreach that is filling a need in the community. With all that being said, we would love it if you would come alongside us and pray for these students and families. There is a small group of leaders pouring into a large number of students, and it is so exciting. If you could pray for us specifically, I would ask that you pray for the students as we challenge them to follow the CP Reading Plan and scripture memorization. Additionally, pray that we would gain more leaders and that we would have more opportunities to build relationships with the parents of these students.

What is Church Partnership and Why Does it Matter?

I asked my kids what they think the word “partnership” means, and one of them said, “I think it means being on the same team.” I love that answer. Rolling up your sleeves to join the work with others who share the same mission, vision, and values is what Covenant Partnership is all about.

There is much that could be said about this topic, but for the sake of this article, let me just give three points for what Covenant Partnership is and why it matters:

1. Partnership Means Community.

More than just attending church on the weekends, God calls us into a community to use our unique gifts and abilities in ways that complement the rest of the church. Romans 12:4-5 says, “For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.”

I love that vivid picture. If you found an ear, a hand, or any other individual body part hanging out by itself, you wouldn’t think, “That’s normal.” You’d think, “I’m having a nightmare!” Why, then, would we think differently about the local church–the bride and body of Christ?

Partnership is a formal way of saying, “I belong to those who make up this body, and we all belong to Jesus.”

2. Partnership Means Commitment.

While no chapter and verse describes how commitment in a local church is measured and accounted for, the author of Hebrews implies that there is a formal commitment. “Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you” (Hebrews 13:17).

Imagine showing up to a basketball game and expecting the coach to put you in the game because you suddenly claim, “This is my team.” If you actually wanted to be on the team, you’d need to know the qualifications and expectations of being on a team and walk through the process of joining like anyone else. In the same way coaches are responsible for developing their players who have committed to their team, pastors are responsible for spiritually caring for the Christians who have committed to the same local church.

3. Partnership Means Sharing.

Partnership means we all belong in the same covenant community and share our resources to accomplish the same Gospel mission.

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved” Acts 2:42-47.

This is a powerful passage that shows us many things about belonging to the local church as a Partner. Still, one thing is clear–the church should function like a big family that shares everything in order to accomplish the same mission of seeing those who are far from Christ come to know Him.

There are no “lone ranger” Christians. God has called us to belong to Himself and to other believers in a local church. If you are looking to commit to being a Partner or desire to learn more about Partnership at CrossPoint, your next step would be to attend Preview Class.

Reading It Right - Bible Study Method

Reading It Right is a Bible study method that follows a pattern set forth in the Bible itself and aims to maximize your efforts by being a good steward of your time, energy, and discipline. Based on 2 Timothy 3:16-17, this study method follows four steps: summarize, expose, change, and prepare. Read the Bible the way the Bible should be read by following the Reading It Right Bible study method.

You can learn more about Reading it Right by clicking the Learn More button, or by picking up a rack card in the Welcome Center at your CrossPoint Location.
